Awards Season is well and truly upon us and AVFF love to look at the styles and glamour of the formidable Red Carpet. This week started with the BAFTA's which seemed to raise the fashion bar high and then came the Grammy's where Brit Girl Adele did us all proud and we ended this week with the established Elle Style Awards. These leaves us hotly anticipating the Oscars and wondering what the stars may wear for 2012 ceremony.

The Vintage Belles: Gillian Anderson, Bonnie Wright & Edith Bowman

It was great to see the stars opting for vintage and eco conscious attire for the BAFTA red carpet this year. Gillian Anderson who had dually hosted a pre-BAFTA show dinner with her good friend William Banks-Blaney at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel chose a William Vintage Sybil Connolly strapless gown for the awards.

Young actress Bonnie Wright wore a vintage Prada dotty dress and bright Prada accessories to finish off the look and Edith Bowman also opted for William Vintage and wore a Christian Dior 1968 gown with encrusted neckline although this was not so much a hit with the fashion parade. However we applaud these ladies for choosing beautiful vintage dresses and celebrating heritage and quality.

Eco-Fabolous & Eco-Friendly: Colin & Livia Firth, Viola Davis and Michal Fassbender.

Livia Firth championed her Green Carpet Challenge on the night and was also joined by a few other celebs who also supported her vision. Livia accompanied her husband Colin and wore an incredible sustainable Paul Smith trouser suit, vintage Cartier earrings and Roger Viver accessories. Colin Firth and and Shame star Michael Fassbender, both wore eco Armani tuxedos, made from organic wool with accents in recycled PET (formerly plastic bottles)... and very smart they looked too.

The Help actress Viola Davis, stepped out in the first ever eco Valentino gown, and as Livia states on her blog, it was a close call, with the fabric for the dress stuck in the Italian town Turin due to a snowstorm, she stated Viola could of been "wearing actual soda cans rather than the miraculously recycled ones" if it had not been for a friend who rescued the day and got it to Rome.

Ladies in Black:
Melissa George in a full-length black Victoria Beckham gown (although the word vintage has been loosely used, it is from VB Fall 2009 collection). My Week with Marilyn actress Michelle Williams attracted the most shock and surprise by wearing bespoke gown by high street (yes high street) retailer H&M , which she accessorised with a book-bag clutch of 'The Misfits by Henry Miller' by designer Olympia Le-Tan. One lady who never misses and always looks dignified, demure yet elegantly beautiful is Meryl Streep in British Designer Vivenne Westwood gown. Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern also took it up a notch in an Azagury black strapless fishtail gown which as wowed the crowds.

And if anyone was to steal the show it would have to be the BAFTA red carpet host Miss Piggy in custom made Louis Vuitton, Fifties-inspired gown... injecting some old school Hollywood glamour.
Elle Style Awards
Is up next and always offers a variety of unique looks and styles from so of the most fashionable across all industries.

Beautiful blooming mummy-to-be Sophie Ellis-Bextor embraced a retro look in polka dot Dolce & Gabbana and Lulu Guinness bag. Everyone's Mad Men favourite, actress Christina Hendricks won the 'Best TV Star' award, and wore a vibrant purple print vintage Carolina Herrera dress.

"I just wear things that I fall in love with and I think people have too many rules about what people should wear on the red carpet."

Actress Gillian Anderson was in yet another eye-catching William Vintage dress a 1965 canary yellow Sarmi. William Vintage who specialises in hand sourcing vintage haute couture introduced good friend Gillian Anderson to the world of vintage:

"Literally every time I leave the house for an event he comes over and obviously there are fittings and stuff but he introduced me to the artistry of couture. It was just something I was completely unaware of "

All that glitters:
Isabeli Fontana Elle's 'Best Model', arrived on the red carpet in a figure-hugging pastel pink dress by Dolce & Gabbana.
Model, Tali Lennox arrived with her friend fashion designer Julian Macdonald, whom she was wearing one of his spectacular floor-sweeping gowns from his spring/summer 2012 collection. She was also wearing Nicholas Kirkwood sandals who she presented with 'Accessory Designer of the Year'.

Christopher Kane was the designer of choice for the Downton Abbey ladies, Laura Carmichael (pictured) wore silver encrusted v-neckline cocktail dress, almost 20's is shape.
Colour Pops:

The Elle style awards always brings creativity and pops of colour to the red carpet that may not usually been seen, Leggy model Poppy Delevigne pulls of Mary Katrantzou for Topshop like no one can with Ursula Mascaro for Zoë Jordan shoes. Pixie Geldof looked hot (excuse the chilli pun) in Dolce & Gabbana and Soon-to-be Bond girl Naomie Harris looked striking in an electric blue Viktor & Rolf dress with metallic Sergio Rossi heels. Red haired vocalist Florence Welch is renown for her kooky style and looked impeccably groomed in her Erdem shirt dress and matching heels.

Presenter of the evenings awards was Alexa Chung who went for an androgynous relaxed look in a grey Stella McCartney tux with plaid panels and contrasting lapels. She accessorised with a black clutch and killer heels. Tallulah Harlech wore a modernist cut dress (possibly Peter Jensen) which flattered her frame and was teamed with chunky black platforms and clutch. Newly single David Gandy (ladies calm yourselves) wore a similar hued grey check suit jacket and waistcoat to Alexa. Jessica Chastain who was awarded with 'Next Future Icon' and the American actress looked incredible in timeless Alexander McQueen dress with a lace peplum waist.
Enchanting black:
Sarah Burton who quite rightly won the International Designer of the Year Award after a tremendous last year from designing the Royal Wedding dress for the Duchess of Cambridge. She wore wore a classic black dress with of course Alexander McQueen heels.
British Designer of the Year: Jonathan Saunders was presented by Christina Ricci in one of his custom made creations.
Rita Ora wearing a J.W. Anderson and Naomi Campbell go many heads turning and commenting on her newly crimped hair.

Jessie J caught everyone's attention in her barely there Falguni & Shane Peacock red sheer, lace gown. And of course, the lady of the moment Lana Del Rey in a gorgeous off-shoulder Vivienne Westwood number.
